Meet the Mini Dipper, Umeshiso's espresso spoon. Also called a tea spoon or a demitasse spoon, the Mini Dipper is tiny but mighty!

Umeshiso spoons are more than just beautiful and colourful. Founded by Umeko Motoyoshi, Umeshiso promotes coffee education, inclusion and community for under represented members of the coffee community, celebrating women, femmes, nonbinary and trans folks, BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), and allies.

In addition to the Mini Dipper, Umeshiso also makes two styles of cupping spoon: the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper. All the different Dippers are available in a number of colourways:

    • Gold: Cause you're my golden hour, the color of my sky. This classic gold finish goes with everything and pops beautifully on the cupping table. And you know everything's gonna be all right.
    • Black: Stir or slurp black coffee with an even blacker spoon. Be infinite, like the night, like the cosmos. This pitch-black cupping spoon is perfect for vampires, witches, Posh Spice, Johnny Cash, emo-identified individuals, and of course goths.
    • Rose Gold: Stay rosy with your very own rose gold-plated, stainless steel cupping spoon! This beautiful finish looks like sunsets and stonefruit.
    • Rainbow: "I've always had a fraught relationship with cupping. (Being corrected on tasting notes, embarrassed, not knowing what bergamot tastes like). So I wanted rainbow cupping spoons, to disarm something that scared me. It reminds me that I can be myself - femme, queer, biracial, sensitive - and also do my job and taste coffee. All those things are possible at once! In Feb of 2018, I started the Rainbow Spoon project. I mailed out a rainbow spoon, for free, to anyone who asked. To rad, amazing women, femmes & nb folks, and our allies. After sending out 75 spoons, I unfortunately was no longer able to provide them for free! (As the spoons were paid for out of pocket). Thank you for sharing this journey with me. I think we’re all in this together, cupping the rainbow."
      -Umeko Motoyoshi

And yes, the Mini Dipper is great for portioning spices and sugar, eating tiny desserts, and anything else you can do with a very small spoon.

Small. Delightful. Just Perfect.

These are small, yes, but they’re perfect for coffees, espressos, and desserts.

Use it to adjust a dose, agitate your grounds, or mix your espresso. Small footprint, which makes it a great addition to any travel coffee kit.

Again, it’s delightful and just perfect!

Teeny tiny spoon

I had the cupping spoons and wanted to add this to my collection. I wrongly assumed this was a small teaspoon. I should've read the specs, it's sooooo small. However, it's delightful, colourful, and just cute. I had planned to use it when stirring my pourover. It's a bit small for an 01 Hario (my typical brew), definitely too small for an 02. Perhaps I'll have to get into espresso like many of the other reviews.

Great spoons for espresso

I use this to adjust the dose of grounds in the basket, then to stir the espresso once done and it accomplishes both tasks beautifully. Mine arrived with a small manufacturer's defect but Eight Ounce's customer service team sorted it out quickly. Otherwise the spoon is perfect.

Perfect espresso spoons.

Just like the title says these are the perfect spoons for your espresso cups. They’re the perfect size and are of excellent quality. My cups and saucers are white and the rainbow spoons offer that cool splash of colour and style that will impress your guests! Highly recommended.
