Because wood is a natural product it is prone to drying and warping. Wood components that are exposed to high heat and moisture, such as the lid pull and handle, may eventually dry out and crack (like repeatedly putting a cutting board in a dishwasher). To prevent this, we recommend periodically applying mineral oil to the lid pull & handle once per month - and buffing with a soft cloth. It’s also good practice to do this any time you notice the wood feeling especially dry.

Top kettle

Very easy to use out of the box - aesthetically, one of the best kettles out there! No regrets about this purchase and no doubt will be using it for a long time.

Disappointing, would not recommend

I’ve had this kettle for approximately 2 years, and it’s been nothing but trouble. I got it because several friends had it, and it looked really beautiful.

I should have returned it immediately, but for the first year it was more “finicky” than fully non-functional so I just put up with it.

Almost immediately, it had difficulty getting to temperature without falsely triggering the “hold” setting where it would stop heating 10-30 degrees cooler than it was set to.
As time progressed, it got worse to where now (at approximately the 2 year mark) it generally just pretends it’s at the programmed temperature despite the water being room temperature. I have to un plug it and plug it in repeatedly, and it takes forever to boil because it keeps tripping the temperature sensor and stops heating (I can hear it clicking repeatedly).

I did wait too long to contact the EightOunce for warranty work, but life was busy and it wasn’t until the past few months that its become utterly unusable. Understandably, EightOunce won’t replace the kettle, but regardless, I just can’t justify a 2 year life span for a $250 kettle, so I can’t say I’d ever recommend this product or consider purchasing another one. For the price, I assumed I had my kettle situation sorted for the next decade or so (which is how long my college $5 Walmart special lasted, before I replaced it with this)

Very solid kettle

This is my first gooseneck kettle, especially with temperature control, and I'm very satisfied! The kettle itself feels very solid, the handle is very comfortable and allows for steady pouring, and the flow is nicely consistent as you are brewing your pourover. The temperature does change slightly as it is holding the preset temperature that you set, so if you've had it holding at a set temperature for a few minutes you may need to wait 15-30 seconds more to hit your set temperature again before you can use it.

The look is very nice, and matches well with my couple of other Fellow products. I would definitely recommend this to someone in the market for a kettle at this price point.

Superb aesthetics

The EKG is beautiful and matches my other gear in the coffee corner. Pour control is great. Pro version gives extra features like scheduling however the firmware update is a bit glitchy, nor do you know what you’re getting pre/post update. Suggest just leaving it out of the box and don’t update it.

Great kettle

Pours super well. Get way better extraction. The temperature does fluctuate a bit despite me setting it precisely. But perhaps that’s normal. Design is top notch.
