This is a great carafe. I love how they managed to have a screw-down lid that still lines up perfectly each time to the spout. It's simple but clever. At 550 ml, it's huge for one person and can do for two if you are not generous with the pours. It does it's job of keeping the coffee hot, the handle makes it easy to manage, and the spout is measured enough that you won't over-pour.

The Hario V60-02 Insulated Stainless Steel Server was a great purchase. It keeps coffee hot, is easy to clean and looks cute. It also doesn't dribble. Pro tip: take the lid off for your final pourout as about a tablespoon of coffee stays in the bottom if you don't. Cannot waste the precious liquid!

As I would imagine a lot of other people have, I got this because I was tired of glass carafes breaking and I wanted my coffee to stay hot longer. This does well on both those fronts, but it came with some drawbacks that I hadn’t initially considered.

For one thing, if you want this to keep coffee hot you absolutely need to pre-heat it with the hottest water possible. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but definitely fiddlier than a glass carafe.

My main issue with this product though is the pouring mechanism. With the lid on, the spout is prone to dripping. It’s also impossible to get all of the coffee out, so always brew a bit more than you want. The lid is also very difficult to clean properly as it can’t be disassembled (I think this is addressed in Hario’s newer model, but that’s not available in Canada yet). If you pour without the lid on you can get more coffee out, but it also can make a terrible mess everywhere and it negates most of the heat retention properties which were kind of the point in the first place...

To some extent these problems are more of an issue with metal carafes in general and aren’t specific to this product. But even so this thing is pretty expensive and I would have liked the performance to reflect that. I like the product enough, but especially for the extra cost I’m not sure I’d buy it again. If the only things that matter to you are heat retention and/or durability I say go for it. But if you care at all about the elegance and overall usability of the product I’d look elsewhere.

Does what it says. Keeps the coffee at whatever temperature you brew it at. Looks nice as well. Shipping was fast!
